Conversation about "apartheid" roads between Beit Furiq Checkpoint commander and members of MachsomWatch. Travel on many West Bank roads is forbidden for Palestinians, and permitted only for Israelis. This ban forces Palestinians to find alternative routes in bad repair and very far from their homes, causing heavy expense and unbelievable waste of time. Anyone caught on these roads is subjected to detention ("educational" punishment) for long hours. This regulation is contrary to international law, and there are therefore no appropriate signs on the roads. Thus, Palestinians are severely punished for violating a "law" that they had no way of knowing about.
