מאז 2001 אנו משקיפות מדי יום בעשרות מחסומי צה"ל הנמצאים בתוך הגדה, בבקעת הירדן, על גדר ההפרדה, בכבישים ראשיים ובדרכי עפר צדדיות; במשרדי המינהל האזרחי (מת"קים) שם מונפקים לפלסטינים אישורים שונים; בבתי משפט צבאיים בדיונים של עצירים פלסטינים. הצוות שלנו שוהה במחסום ככל הנדרש ועוקב אחרי התנהלות החיילים והפלסטינים, ללא הפרעה. לעיתים, לנוכח יחס בוטה וקשה אל הפלסטינים, יש ואנו מנסות להתערב באמצעות פנייה ישירה אל החיילים או בטלפון למפקדיהם. הדוחות מהתצפיות מתפרסמים באתר זה בעברית ובאנגלית.

מחסום קלנידה בשבת, שעות צהריים, יום שבתון בחלקים של הרשות, בלימודים ובמשרדי הרשות, אין מעבר עובדים לישראל ועדיין מעט האנשים הרוצים לעבור או לחזור מירושלים מתענים בתור המכוניות הצפוף והארוך. הולכי הרגל נעצרים (בכל פעם כמה עשרות אנשים) בשרוול-כלוב הצר והזדוני לפני הכניסה לנקודות הבידוק. רובם בעלי תעודות כחולות ירושלמיות ואינם מנועים מלעבור. אין רגע שבו ניתן להגיע למחסום ולעבור מהר. אין דבר כזה: תנועה זורמת. כל שלב ושלב במסע הזה של עשרות מטרים תובע המתנה ארוכה ומשפילה, מלווה במרירות קשה, בכעס וקיפוח.
הודעות הכריזה (בעברית) הבלתי מובנות, מעבירות את האנשים מנקודת בידוק אחת לשנייה, אחרי שהם כבר סיימו את מכסת ההמתנה שלהם, ועכשיו הם נאלצים להתחיל הכל מחדש. איכשהו אין ביניהם ויכוחים על גניבת תורים, איזה קודים סמויים מכתיבים כאן איזה סדר.
אנו חושבות, מה הייתם - אשה ואיש פלסטינים - עושים בזמן הזה שנגזל מכם ובאנרגיה הרגשית והפיסית המתבזבזת ונהרסת כל הזמן במחסומים.
המחסום, השולט ביומיום של כל מי הנדרש לו, הוא גם הכלי בו משתמשים כדי לעצור אנשים או לסחוט משת"פיות. בצד השני של המחסום (הצד הסגור בסד של החומה) מתקיימים חייהם של הרוכלים, והילדים הרוכלים. זה המתחם שבו לישראלים, לצבא למשטרה לשב"כ ולמאבטחים יש עניין רב בשליטה וגם מרחב פעולה להתעמרות בשם הביטחון.
המצלמות במגדלים שעל החומה מצלמות את תנועת המגיעים למחסום ואת תנועות הילדים, הנערים-רוכלים. אותם תמיד יהיה אפשר להאשים בפעילות עוינת נגד כוחות הביטחון במחסום. זריקות האבנים, שהן בגדר התרסה, מחאה ושחרור זעם, מונצחות ללא הפסקה במצלמות המגדלים. כל צילום של ילד פלסטיני, מואמן או מחמד או מהנד, משמש בעת הצורך כאמצעי סחיטה נגד אותם נערים כדי לגייסם כמשת"פים, או כדי להגדיל את מכסת העצירים הקטינים, "למלא קופה".
כל אחד מן הילדים נערים הללו כבר צבר תקופת מעצר או מאסר, כל אחד מהם עבר מכות והתעללויות מידי גיבורי ישראל האמונים על בטחוננו - חיילים ושוטרים, מאבטחים ואנשי ימ"מ - ובראשם חוקרי השב"כ. אצלם נוחתים בסוף, אחרי הסחיטה בעזרת הצילומים והמכות והאיומים במעצר.
הנה סיפור אחד מני רבים מפי מ':
"באו חיילים ולקחו אותי למחסום. הכניסו אותי לחדר ליד המת"ק. התנפלו עלי ארבעה: חייל במדים, מאבטח בסוג שונה של מדים ושני שוטרים בכחול. אני אזוק, הפנים על הרצפה והם מרביצים, מפליקים, בועטים בכל הגוף, אומרים שזרקתי בלוק על נהג ישראלי, יהודי, דתי, שנקלע בטעות בתור המכוניות הנכנסות לירושלים. אני אומר זה לא אני, אמרו יש לנו צילום, הראו לי צילום של פנים לא שלי, אמרו זה כן אתה. אמרו רוצה שנעזור לך? אז תעזור לנו. אחרי המכות לקחו לחקירה אצל החוקר "אבו ..." (נהיו ערביסטים הילדים, זה כבר לא "קפטן ג'ו"). אחרי שהמתנתי שעתיים נכנסתי. אבו... במתק שפתיים, אומר לי שב, רוצה לשתות משהו... אני כל הגוף שלי כואב מהמכות. הוא ממשיך: תעזור לנו, ניתן לך כסף. אל חמדאללה, אני אומר לו, יש לי כסף. אולי אתה צריך תסריח (אישור מעבר) להגיע קצת לירושלים? לא, אני אומר, אני לא גַ'סוּס (מרגל). העיף אותי מן החדר והתסריח, שבאמת הייתי צריך להגיע אתו להדסה לביקורת רפואית אחרי אירוע המכות הקודם, לא קיבלתי. מעליש, אני מרגיש בסדר, הכאבים עברו לבד ואין כנראה כלום בבטן מהקת של הרובה, שהחייל הכניס לי כי זרקתי אבנים.
מ' ביקש עזרה. איה, אמר, תעזרי לי. לא יודע מה לעשות בשביל לא לזרוק את האבן הזאת על המאבטח הזה.
אותו מאבטח עמד ובדק מכוניות היום. משקפיים שחורים, מכנסיים חאקי בהיר וחלק עליון חאקי כהה, לצערנו לא יכולנו לצלם כי עמד רחוק.
