Qalandiya, Ar-Ram, Anata, June 22, AMObservers: Rena Rozler, Rahel Margalit, reporting6:45 AM AnataNo “good morning” from the BP, just “move back”. Traffic moving, checking time short for cars. No back up of pedestrians, although some names are recorded as the people entered, and some are not. Some of those recorded have blue ID’s. All children’s back packs are checked. Parents poke fun about that to us as they pass. Could a little child of six have something dangerous in his pack? 7:25 AM Ar-RamThere are four detainees held out of reach for us to speak to them. Again we notice that every child’s pack is checked. As we stand there a police van pulls up. Two policemen step out. One assumes the position of writing every pedestrians name as he enters. The other lists identities of vehicles that pass. At 7:45 AM BP jeep pulls up and begins checking every vehicle traveling in the direction of Ramallah. 8:00 AM QalandiyaWe found a routine morning checking of cars and people. No long lines. BP tending to business. No problems that we were aware of. When we returned to Ar-Ram at about 8:45, the police, who were recording names, were no longer present. The detainees were still present.
