Abu Dis DCO Wednesday PM, 3.8.05Observers: Mika G., Daniela G. (reporting)13:00 – The soldier seems to occupy the watchtower on a regular basis now and immediately opens the turnstile for whoever is behind it. There is still no cooler where it says “cold water”. The waiting shed is dirty.Only two people at the windows. One of them left in a hurry without our being able to find out whether he had gotten what he came for. The other was having a long conversation with the soldier girl at the window. She really did all she could for him in a very pleasant manner. She could not issue a permit, yet promised to call him the following morning and offered very reasonable alternative solutions to his problem. Shortly after, two men arrived and were almost immediately let in the side gate and greeted there with a warm handshake by a soldier. Perhaps collaborators. A third man was also called to that gate, but for him it was unlocked by a guy in civilian attire with plastic gloves on his hands. Go figure… Two more men were told to wait in the shed and the soldier girl told us, again very politely and sweetly, that they would get their answers within 10 minutes. For unexpected reasons we had to end the shift right then and there.
