Qalandiya, Ar-ram, Wednesday afternoon, 21.12.2005Watchers: Yvonne M., Ruthi B. (reporting)16.00 Ar-ram We got there late because of traffic jams so did not linger.16.20 Qalandiya We spoke to those coming out of the “monster.” The stories are very bad, it takes at least an hour if not more to pass in the mornings. We go around to the car area but did not enter through the building. Because of work on the road from the east taxis are forced to go an unreasonable distance especially in view of the bad weather which increases the difficulties for Palestinians of all ages…..but why bother…after all they are only Arabs and not human.Few traders and they are also forced to stand at a distance from which they cannot carry out their business. The patrol’s commander tells us that on Thursday “all “will be allowed to pass. Please keep an eye on this.We asked him to try to at least allow one taxi at the eastern stop and to the entrance of the checkpoint.18.00 Ar-Ram 5 detainees, one of whom has diabetes. We managed to have him freed but the others have to wait. Natanya translating
