Irtah, Jubara, Anabta, Tuesday AM, 11 April 2006 Watchers: Ruti K., Shlomit S. (reporting) 06:30 – 07:30Irtah: No one is there. All is shut. About a dozen bikes tied to the fence. Waiting for life to come back here. Jubara: Very few people are passing through the checkpoint. We go up to the Agricultural Workers’ Gate. The gate is wide open, no soldiers or the Humvee, and for a moment it seems like all are free to pass. A Fata Morgana, of course. The soldiers are in their positions checking those entering Jubara. Here too it is very quiet. We are still there to see the buses with schoolchildren go through. 07:30 – 08:30Anabta: Teqoa checkpoint. Three soldiers. They are busy mainly with educating those exiting Tulkarm, instructing them to stand in a line beyond a small fence that is placed on the road away from the checking soldier’s position. About a hundred people stand waiting to be let through. The lines of cars both exiting and entering are growing. We talked to the checkpoint commander to speed the passage, but he insists people should stand as they are asked to. Then it seems that our phone calls to the brigade and its commander, which included a warning that the load may result in a security hazard, have helped. At some point the line shortens and the cars are off.
