Bethlehem and Surroundings, Thrusday, May 11,06 PMObservers: Daniel, Nurit S. (reporting) and guest, SandyTunnel CP: nothing unusal, there were quite a few cars being checked. We drove by.Ezyon DCO: It was the end of the day and the DCO closes early (16:00) on thursday. We met a number of people with problems. The most urgent was a man who had recieved a permit to take his daughter to hospital that morning, but accidentally his permit was given to someone else and he recieved a permit belonging to a lady in Biet Jalla. He went to Biet Jalla to give the lady her permit in the hope that she had his, but she did not. By the time he returned to the DCO he could not get in to ask for an alternative permit. We called Amir who explained that he cannot give another permit with out some kind of document and suggested that this man go to a lawyer and make a statment to him that the lawyer will authorize and then return. Although it was past closing time, Amir said that he will be at the DCO until 9 pm and this man could come to the gate and get service. In addition was the usual mess, people waiting for hours and frustration. It seemed to me that the staff at the DCO was going nuts too, although they were polite when we called and tried to help.El Khadr: Because we had a guest we decided to show her this place. While strolling around the market we met a number of people who told us that the whole place will be moved to El Khadr South next week. They reported that soldiers patrol the place all the time but there were no special problems today. A man we met told us about strange activity at night…that seemed related to changes in the arrangement of the place, or perhaps the building of the wall in that area. Biet Jalla CP: unmanned.Walleje CP: Manned and empty as usual.”Rachel’s Passage”–CP 300: Totally empty with just a few people crossing.
