Nuaman
Bethlehem and surroundings, Tuesday, 6.6.2006, MorningObservers: Hanna B. Tamar A. (reporting) Shift from 6:15 to – 8:00Only a few People on the way from Um-Tuba to Nuaman. We heard shooting practice between Noaman and Bethlehem – background music that the residents hear sometime for hours. On the other side they hear the Bulldozers that build the new CP and Lieberman road. The gate at the village entrance was closed. The passing gate to Al-H’as was open; on the other side of the gate there were two indifferent BP. Two cars and one pedestrian went out with no checking, and an old couple with a donkey went in. Because of the vacation there were no children, but tomorrow the matriculation exams start and we hope that the students will be able to go through. The people reported about difficulties in bringing food into the village. One man brought a sack of flour but he could not go through with it because, they said that it was impossible to know what was inside the sack. He had to go back to Bet-Sahur, to divide the flour into small bags, and then he could pass and it took him two hours. Sometimes it is forbidden even to bring boxes of vegetables and chickens because it is it is not allowed to transport any merchandise to Israel from the West Bank, except from the designated CP. How can the residents of Nuaman get food? They can’t enter into Jerusalem and they can’t bring anything from the West Bank…. Besides food there is a problem for gas and garbage trucks from the west bank to enter.
