Shekh Saed, Abu-dis, Zeitim CP Tuesday, 20.06.2006, AMObservers: Hana A., Yehudit Sh. MIchaela (reporter)Christa (guest)Shekh Saed: 06:40 – The place is quiet. Most of those who arrive here have the right documents. Anyone who does not stands higher near the neighborhood houses and waits.Pupils pass with no special problems. So are those with blue identity cards.Five or six people are sitting aside, waiting for their documents that were taken earlier. During our stay there the documents were given back one by one and they were sent back towards the village.A BP officer explains to us that he knows that people are passing through the wadi, but his job is to watch in this point – and this is what he does. We saw people passing in side almost nonexistent paths. Sometimes they are caught, usually not.An officer claimed that it is forbidden for us to cross the checkpoint. We explained to him that we are allowed to pass by law.Jeeps were coming and going all the time. Two soldiers went down to patrol the path. They stopped at an observation point. Meanwhile two women tried to pass the path. The soldiers saw them and shouted “Irja, Irja” and they returned running. On the way to Ras-El-Amud, (X shaped crossway, where there is bus stop for bus number 5) we came upon a Jeep that stopped a bus and had all the passenger climbing down for check-up. Their loot is two boys (who probably had no identifying documents). They were taken to the Jeep. A man who had certificates for family reunion – his document was taken from his. He walked back to the checkpoint. A woman, an inhabitant of Shekh Saed has a teacher’s document and a permit. She went through the checkpoint. Her document was taken too. We called E. from DCO Abu-Dis and he helped. The Jeep came back, the BP man barked at her (in Hebrew, which she does not understand): “Why did you not show us the permit? why did you give us only the document?” but – he gave her the document back after a very thorough inspection which found no fault in her permits and documents. A minor success. The teacher told us that this is a daily event. The Pishpash: 08:30 – dead. A Jeep is parked in front of the opening. On the other side two village women (phallakh women) are waiting and begging in vain.Zeitim CP – People are coming one by one. Passing time is 7 minutes. On the loudspeaker a girl-soldier is shrieking.
