Shaked, Aanin, Rihan Mon 10/7/06 am Observers: Dvora, Nava (reporting)Guest: N.8:00: Shaked CP: The soldiers are at the CP. The father of two children tries to persuade them to let his children go through from the West Bank to the seamzone. The children are enrolled in a summer camp that is operated in the area of Yaabed (West Bank); every other day they go through the CP as their names appear on the list in the hands of the army. Today they are not listed, perhaps because this is a list of the seamzone children who are studying on the West Bank, and these two study in the seamzone? After a few telephone calls to the DCO, the matter is arranged and the children do go through (today, the lists will be updated)?8:45 Aanin (open twice a week in the morning and in the afternoon, for the farmers). Before we went down to the CP we met a group of farmers, among them S., whose wife has a piece of land with an olive orchard. He claims that Kibbutz Mei-Ami dumps its garbage there (the mud of drainage). We go down to the land, and there is really terrible mud there, and something that looks like drainage, and has a terrible smell. One tree has already dried up. The mud also covers the well that has been there for decades. Later I talked to the Kibbutz secretariat and asked them to find out about this matter, and I am waiting for their answer. The soldiers at the CP turn back a young boy who tries to go through without a permit. A fellow who went through in the morning from Aanin to his agricultural land in the seamzone, remembers that he forgot to take his medicine and he wants to go back to the West Bank. After begging, the soldiers let him go back east. About 150 people are waiting to go back to the West Bank, after they worked and slept in their fields in the seamzone since Thursday. But for passage in this direction, the gate is opened only in the afternoon at 15:30. So let them wait.9:30 Rihan CP: Pick-up trucks with vegetables go through from the West Bank to the Seamzone. A few private cars go through in the same direction. The pedestrian passageway is “active,” we arrived just after the breakfast break which paralyzes the passage completely.10:30: We left the CP.[translation: Devorah K.]
