Irtah, Juabara, Ar-Ras & Anabta, Tuesday 19.9.06 AMObservers: Ruti C, Shlomit S, Elinoar B (reporting) Irtah06:05 – Semi-darkness, surprisingly chilly. The day-laborers say “today is good” – most of them are out by now. They still complain about the “rooms” and the extra inspection there, and they are worried about the oncoming rains and lack of shelter, as well as the expected closure during Ramadan and the Jewish holidays. The manager of the site is there. He cannot do anything about security checks or closure, but sheds are “beyond planning” and soon will be put up. Jubara & Ar-Ras06:45 – 07:15 – We toast the birth of Abu Hatem’s and wife’s grandson with a cup of coffee, and listen to his stories about the good old days. We drive up the hill and down to Ar-Ras. Hardly any vehicles. We gather there’s no separation of the northern West Bank, though it is hard to get reliable information from the soldiers. Anabta 07:20-07:40 – Here, too, a very small number of vehicles and hardly any pedestrians. Usually this is not a good sign, but the people say “today is okay”. Both the soldiers and the taxi-drivers say there’s no separation. We drive to Beit Iba.
