Bethlehem vicinity, Wednesday, 18.10.06, AM Observers: Drora P, Ora A. Driver: Mussa This is a special holiday during the period of Ramadan. Rachel’s Pass :6.45 am. Many elderly women waiting a long time. They are trying to get to El Aksa for the prayer time, but they were prevented from doing so by the army until 13.00 o’clock. Standing against the wall are many men with permits. It seems they were told that they would be permitted to pass. But there are only 3 open checkpoints, according to the senior officer .There is a long line waiting to pass. We asked for a separate line for women but were told that they have insufficient manpower for this. 7.40 EL NASHNAS: Passage of cars is slow and there is a long line of cars. WE signed for “power of attorney” This is an urgent request. Instead of obtaining information for payment of his fine, one of the men turned to us and we handed the documents and the money for Chaya to continue working on the request.DCL ETZION: 8.30 am A GSs restricted man asked for our help. The story: One of the men was invited to work by an Israeli employer whose name he did not know. He asked for our help in finding the name of the employer at the DCL office. We contacted the DCL office and were told by a woman working there that she reads all our reports and does not give a damn about the waiting man and that he should wait some more. We were not able to help him.
