Abu-DisWednesday, 26.07.2006, AMObservers: Ora A., Arno (guest), Nava E. (reporter)Abu Dis: 06:30 – When we arrived at the hotel, a woman military soldier in training opened the blocked gate (probably thought that we were settlers). We were amazed at the courtesy, we had not been permitted to cross in the direction of the settlement “Kidmat Zion”, but we did not ask any excess questions, and we entered. For our guest, a French Jew who studies in the Ulpan at the Hebrew University, it was an excellent lesson in the geography of the occupation. Two houses of the settlement that the wall bypasses so that they will stay within the Jerusalem area, each building is guarded 24 hours, 7 days a week by guards on the roof and guards on the perimeter. We did not go down to Sawahre. On our return, the gate was closed and a Military Police officer castigated us that we did not stop even when he yelled at us to stop. We told him that we did not hear him, since the windows were closed. And, also, we did not ask to cross – they simply opened the gate for us.Via the whole length of the wall, from Abu-Dis, we did not meet any passers-by. Only via Pishpesh did a few of the inhabitants pass, whose names were listed on the permitted list of the High Court of Justice, meanwhile. The Container 08:00 – quiet, not very heavy traffic flows in both directions.
