Northen Jordan Valley: Vibrant school activity under the the shadow of Corona and demolition threats
Warm and yellow and blue, and on the Radio Deri (Shas Party MK) explains how terrible the new government will be. What does a tree care about?
I unloaded three-quarters of a car in Hadidia for “Sapa’a’s Kindergarten”, now on a long summer vacation. It is scheduled to open early next year with a new curriculum and better physical structure. A young girl, without a suitable degree but with a lot of good will is the founder and inshallah it will develop, and all will be well.
I continued to the school and kindergarten in Elmalah which today ends the year. By the time I arrived the ceremony had ended and I met the teaching staff and principal. In fact, the first year of work is over. With all the corona and the shadow of demolition threats, the year took place in spurts and during construction. The kindergarten sturcture, consisting of two buildings, became a school for the children of the area, under the responsibility of the Tubes Council. It has 3 classrooms, about 50 children and a staff of 4 teachers. A nearby building, dating from the time of the Turks or English was repurposed. Built like a fortress with thick stone walls, the interior, which had served as a straw and hay warehouse, was cleaned, renovated and turned into a kindergarten and an office. Soon another space will become a regional administration office. And it all resides next to the shepherd community of Elmalah. The Palestinian authority invests a lot in infrastructure: there is water in tankers that flows into a drinking sink and toilet, outside the classrooms. An outdoor improvement is also planned. A new fence, playground, and shading.
I do not know if you are impressed but I am quite amazed at this vibrant activity that is so outstanding in the valley. The man holding the job of Mukhtar (head) of the north valley for two years now, Mehdi, is a quiet, gentle and calm young man who is full of deeds for the benefit of the community.
On the way back, around 7:30, a long line of cars was waiting patiently to be checked by the army, as they extited the valley towards Nablus in the Hamra checkpoint.
