Etzion DCO: Proceeding slowly without justification
We were there for an hour and as we arrived many people went in to the offices. But in the time that we were there only two came out with the magnetic card. The soldiers must be exhausted from their workload and the speed at which it seems they have to work.
A woman who has to have treatment for cancer at Augusta Victoria needs someone to accompany her but her husband is prevented by the GSS. She only has daughters.
A woman who had worked at Maaleh Edumiem for many years and suddenly found out just shortly that she is also prevented.
In both cases we gave them Sylvia’s phone number …even though there is probably little that she can do to help them.
Prove you don’t have a sister…
A man was there with two women but they were so suspicious of us even when we told them we were human rights activists they would not speak to us.
One man who did speak to us said that the worst situation is at the container when the soldiers simply close the passage and you sit there in the blazing sun for two hours and you cannot even get out to go to the toilet. When we wanted to record what he was saying he asked me not to do so even though I assured him it was only for my own use.
The road to the police station and the army base above the DCO has been renovated. The road which leads to the DCO and is only used by the Palestinians is full of potholes and has been so ever since we can remember.
