Bethlehem 28/3/2004 Haya O., Marit T., Ayala S. (reporting) The barrier at CP300 has been moved by some 30 m, thereby distancing us yet farther away from the usual crowd of detainees. We are thus unable to communicate with the detainees at all (The BPs repeated that they were given water…) A green bloused woman suddenly made her appearance at the scene, did her best to push us away (physically!) and ended up shoving Haya aside, tearing at her MW badge and tearing at the pad Haya was writing in, mumbling all along that it was her duty “to defend our soldiers against these women traitors.” As all this had little effect on the BPs, we demanded to see their commander. Indeed, Dothan showed up and took the lady, who would not provide her name, to the Moriah Police Station for Haya to file a complaint. Hours wasted away from the CP. Returned to the CP at around 10:00, to find about 30 detainees by now. One of the better mannered BPs replied to our inquiries about release tactics. He explained that they would all be released in one batch, either after 3 hrs or, sometimes, if necessary, even after double that time (with an officer’s approval). The DCO officer Dov claimed to have been insulted by one of our members last week, to such a degree that he would not speak to us any more!
