Ar-Ram, Qalandiya, Sun. 07.0.05 p.m.Observers: Phyllis V, Daniel B, Tamar FAt the Ar-Ram checkpoint, border police are reeinforced by soldiers from the canine unit. We did not come across any unusual incidents and only a few people crossed through. At the Qalandiya checkpoint, a unit from the engineering corps that guards over the checkpoint was replaced by reservists and volunteers. There was no harrassment of the peddlers. The commander of the checkpoint was from the military police. Officer Tal responded to our complaint about two soldiers who were checking i.d.’s who, every few minutes, burst out into song — something which was insulting to those standing opposite them. She ordered them to stop the singing and to relate to their task with the expected dignity. A, a resident of Hizme asked our help. He said that 7 or 8 months ago, 80 dunams belonging to his family were confiscated for building the wall. The family received no compensation. We have the details and would welcome any information as to how to handle the matter.
