A regular shift, like many others, nothing special happened, banality of the occupation.

A lot of workers are already waiting at 06:00 outside the checkpoint, hoping to find work

If they have no other income, of course  we always buy it.  Two inspection booths out of four are operating.  At 06:20 the line is almost gone and now whoever arrives goes right through.

There are a few people in line so passage is quick

A military police officer checks bags, after people have already gone through the inspection.  Anyone who does not have his permit with him is sent to sit on the side and wait until someone brings his permit.  A woman with horse and wagon goes through.  Another person is sent to sit at the side, and then another.  The officer talks on the phone while he is checking the bags of the people going out.  The clerk in charge of the inspection calls out each time to the officer with questions;  by now, the line is longer since the passage is delayed.  One of the detainees arrived without his permit, the second one asks for his permit back in order to go home.  The officer takes his time, no problem, so what if they don't work?  It turns out that one of them says his permit is at home, but they say that, on the computer, his permit has been canceled.  The second one's permit lapsed a month ago.  He asks that, in spite of this, they let him through just for today to go to work, but this does not help.  The officer is careful to constantly open and close the gates for the people who have already gone through the entire procedure.  He gives the impression that he is hyper-energetic.

A man turned to us whose brother owns a small piece of land, about one dunam, along the seam line.  They have recently stopped giving him a permit to travel to his land.  We referred him to Miki, who hopes to help him in his application to the DCO.  

A horse and wagon arrive;  the father allowed his son, about 8 years old, to bring it through the checkpoint.  Behind them, the usual herd of sheep is going to pasture.

At about 08:00, the line lengthened and all the nursery vehicles arrived.  The closure hour arrived, but there are still a lot of people in line.  It seems that the passage was slow because the military police woman was simply not efficient or experienced.

The youth who arrived with the expired permit was sent back after half an hour of waiting, as well as the man who didn't have his papers with him.

The story of the pump.
