Cliff Hotel, Jerusalem
Abu Dis Monday AM, 11.7.2005Observers: Yehudit R., Ruthi R. (reporting)00:70 – A vehicle with “Educational Institutions Van” written on one side and “Security” on the other, zooms past us, and beside what used to be “Cliff Hotel” we see that next to the Moskovitz “mansion” two people descend from it. The van turned around and picked up two different people, probably on its way back to Jerusalem. Going uphill towards the Pishpash we pass by the locked gate with people squeezing through the 30 cm gap between two metal bars that have been sawed off.A BP vehicle is parked in front of the Pishpash and its passengers are busy writing. In the monastery garden, about 5 young men are sitting and at a certain moment they go out towards the cars that are parked beyond the heap of stones. At the same time, a loud argument ensues between the drivers regarding passengers. Very few people pass the wall without being detained. On the way to Sawahre we passed through the new “terminal” perpendicular to the wall. It looks threatening, there are security shelters. The terminal is painted in a bright orange-yellow color.07:50 – Ma’ale Adumim CP -Traffic flows. Only transits and no private cars.08:00 – Sawahre the Container -A new northbound road for those going in three directions: To Ramallah and Nablus, to Abu Dis and Al-Ezariya, and to Bethlehem. Transits and private cars with Palestinian license plates use it. Passage at the CP is swift. One soldier approves passage while the others sit and eat. There are no pedestrians.09:00 – End of shift.
