Escalation in the Jordan Valley, Settlers attacking Palestinians in Area
Until today settlers from dozens of illegal settlements have been attacking Palestinians in Area C. They are now attacking Palestinians in Area B that belongs to the Palestinian Authority under the approval and jurisdiction of the IDF.
Last night settlers from Moshe Sharvit’s farm came to the home of F. and burned a refrigerator, awning, furniture, and everything else that was on the patio. The frightened members of the family locked themselves in the house and closed the steel door.
This morning we drove there. ON the way Palestinian farmers stopped us and told us that the violent settler Moshe Sharvit, had arrived driving his ATV and driven over the fields of hyssop, mallow, mint, and okra. When a young man demanded that he leave Moshe hit him with a hoe. The young man was taken to the hospital and he was treated and received stitches in the wound in his back.
F. from Nessariya joined us. He has 50 acres of fields in the area Moshe Sharvit drove over his plowed and irrigated fields today and damaged the irrigation system that had been set up only a week ago. He asked for our protection while he placed plastic over the young plants. I told him that we could perhaps organize a group to help him lay down plastic, but that there would be no one to guard the plants after they grew. No one would prevent Moshe and his gangs from crushing the plants with their cows or vehicles. We would not be able to be on guard day and night. “What can I do?” he asked. “This is my livelihood.” There is no limit to the evil that goes on here and the Palestinians live without any protection from the terror of the settlers who are out to damage their fields, homes, and flocks. We remain silent and allow this to happen. International law obligates conquerors to protect the conquered, since they have no
Afterwards we visited Burhan, Ashraf, and Yosef in Khalat Makhul. They reported that they no longer go into the pastures with their flocks because they are violently evicted by the settlers (specifically by Uri who has taken over 500 acres in Um Zuka and by the army.

Khalet Makhul
A small settlement of a shepherd community located on the way to the settlement of Hemdat. Two nearby outposts make life miserable for the Palestinians, who make a living from grazing, and the army backs the settlers. As a result, the possible grazing areas are getting smaller.
The local children attend school in the settlement of Ein Al-Beida. Long lines of 3 hours sometimes stretch out at the Hamra and Tayasir checkpoints leading to the town of Tubas, making it difficult to get water, supplies, and sell the cheese, milk, and meat that the residents produce for their living.
Following a deadly attack at the Tayasir checkpoint in February 2025, the checkpoint was closed completely for the time being.
