At the present time, majority of guarding shifts in the Jordan Valley concentrate in the vicinity of Farisiya, the area which is primary subject of settlers violent conduct. The Palestinian’s shepherds shifted part of their herds to graze in other areas, primarily Ein Sakut. This in turn leaves their women and children alone and without protection at home; the men are a distance away with their sheep.  Our staying with the unprotected families (`protective presence`) 24 hours a day is extremely important. The settlers usually dare not riot, as would be their customary pattern of behaviour, in the presence of the Israeli escorts

We passed time with the children by playing games and board games we brought with us. Subsequently, I visited families elsewhere.

Meanwhile, the groups of escorts  divide themselves between two primary locations, where settlers emerge. It is our thinking that but for the escorts, the area would have been abandoned by now.

Elsewhere, the situation is similar. For example, Uja. With one of his hats, Smotrich plans to fill the Palestinians Jordan Valley with “agricultural farms” of settlers, and annex for this purpose more and more Palestinian land. With his other hat, namely the Minister of Finance) he serves as a minister in the Ministry of Defence, and as such is responsible for the civil administration of settlements in the occupied territory. He states unhesitatingly and loudly that the governance in the Occupied Territories should pass from the army to the government, ie to himself. According to him, the changes which he effected thus far are mega-dramatic, speak volumes,  and are  changing the DNA of the system.

Instead of documenting from the territory itself I moved to reviewing the press and X – formerly known as Twitter.

This is today’s “loot”

A community of shepherds in the Jordan Valley opposite the settlement of "Rotem". Making a living from grazing sheep, the residents are exposed to harassment, abuse and theft from settlers who come to them from outposts and settlements in the area, and their grazing area is shrinking due to settler takeovers, fire zones and declared nature reserves.
Machsom Watch companies participate in shepherd escort activities and provide a 24/7 protective presence, and there is continuous and warm contact with the community.
