Jerusalem, Damascus Gate: The second Friday of Ramadan
A cold Jerusalem day, and the crowd hurries to prayer. No festive attire; the Damascus Gate plaza is in its weekday dress with very few decorations. Sentries stand all around, and it seems everyone has grown accustomed to the watchful eye on every corner. It is worth noting the improved space of the streets and roads leading to the gate; the years of construction have finally ended, and unlike in the past, the area is no longer fenced in on all sides. This allows for a pleasant and fluid walk. Perhaps also due to the small number of worshippers.
Az-Oulay (so-maybe) police officer, was handing out red hearts, adding a touch of color to the surroundings.
A diminished and quiet Ramadan.
