Jubara, Ar-Ras, Anabta
Jubara, Ar-Ras, Anabta, Wednesday AM, April 19, 2006 Watchers: Nati A., Rina Ts., Elisheva E. (reporting)Jubara, Ar-Ras, 07:00 We came in through the entrance gate to the village. After a dispute with the soldiers, we were allowed to go down to the checkpoint. We were shown an edict from the brigade commander, which bars us from staying in the place.Cars coming from the east are few and only a single one from the direction of Tulkarm.Anabta, 07:30 – 07:55 There is a lot of traffic – many vehicles from Tulkarm, fewer from Nablus. The rules as of now are: [male?] Palestinians aged 15-30 are not permitted to pass, except for students and workers, residents of Shufa, Ramin and Beit Lid. We enquired about exceptions, and the (bright?) commander said: “Anything, save stupidity!”There is no barricade at the junction of roads 57 and 60.At the junction next to Shavei Shomron settlement, in the tower behind the wall, a single soldier is standing guard over the silence. A Palestinian recreational vehicle is stopped and the soldier comes down to talk to the driver. The man in question is an engineer who is supposed to do some work in Area 3, together with the authorities. He was told that his passage had been coordinated but at each and every checkpoint he is stopped to make sure the passage has really been coordinated.
