Jubara 8/3/2004 Watchers: Orly P., Vivy K., Adi L., Dina G., Tammy C. (reporter) 12.00, Irtah. The back to back flows. No pedestrians go through gate, except for humanitarian cases – closure. 12.30, Jubara. Edna informed us that there was no school today so we did not bother to go up to the school gate. The CP we encountered a car from Jubara (registered as a resident) with a woman and baby. The woman is refused passage, as she is not on the list. The soldier who checked them had a “police” cap on him, probably the same guy that was reported yesterday. In response to our demand to identify him, he simply did not answer and behaved vulgarly to the woman, pushing her and causing her and the baby to cry. Dina immediately called Kamil who sent captain Avi and another soldier to the CP. Dina also called the IDF Emergency. Captain Avi spoke to the CP commander telling him that there was no place for such a soldier at the CP (see yesterday’s report). By the way, there was another soldier with similar attributes. The DCO promised that this was their last shift; tomorrow they would not be at the CP. We were happy that the rest of the crew were doing their duty efficiently and in good grace especially the commander. We noticed a Palestinian detainee on the western side, with his hands cuffed. The soldiers claim he tried to slip through and did not attend the soldiers’ call. An officer by the name of Motti ( a captain) arrived and said that the previous day there were some unpleasantness with the members of Machsom Watch – one of the watchers called a soldier “black Ninja”, and the soldier was deeply offended. We went to him and apologized. This captain asked us to report closely about each breach of human rights that we notice. Before leaving we noticed a change in the behavior of the reservists who were complained about previously. We felt we had earned our living for that day, and left by 24.30 We passed by Irtah – no change, and so we returned home.
