| Morning

We drove along Route 60 in order to meet N. from the Dura area, to give him the donation sent by my friend N. Meeting was short as usual, and we managed to understand that their situation is becoming more dire – no work, the army enters villages every single day, houses are demolished and life is not really lived. We gave him the money and continued.

At Abda we noticed a crane next to a pillbox post that has been situated there for years. We shall try to check it when we are there again, find out what that activity means.

As usual, checkpoints on our way are closed.

Sheep Junction – the checkpoint is open in the direction of Hebron, and closed as always on the other side, in the direction of Yatta.

Dura checkpoint is closed.

Fawwar checkpoint is closed.

Zif checkpoint is open.

We stopped at Nabil’s grocery in order to purchase food for the villagers of Umm al-Khair, where the Hadhaleen family was already waiting for us at the playground, as little children play there and all around is endless injustice and Jewish terrorists.

The caravans in the new colonist outpost established nearby shows the takeover of Jewish supremacy, whose sole point is ethnic cleansing, depopulating Palestinian villages in favor of the Jewish colonization project.

Khalil Hadhaleen took me to see the nearby football field, and tells me what has already been posted on social media – the invasion of about ten colonists on Saturday, May 9th. The invaders were having fun on that field, it’s documented. Khalil called the police 5 times, and when the policemen arrived an hour later, the invaders left.

Khalil also told me that before the colonists came to the football field, they tried to enter one of the houses at the entrance to Umm al Khair, but family members and volunteers of Protective Presence helped – so the colonists left and continued by taking over the football field.

Eid comes and talks with us about the daily trouble of life that is no life at all, surrounded by hostile colonist outposts that make the Palestinians’ lives a living hell. It is important for them to be visited, helped and supported.

Every visit there is heart-rending, and it is the little we can do – coming there.

We left them food, games and clothes.

    • Junction on Route 60: west - the town of El Dura, east - the Al Fawwar refugee camp. There is a manned pillbox  at the junction. From time to time the army sets up flying checkpoints at the entrance to El Fawwar and Al Dura. Al-Fawwar is a large refugee camp (7,000 inhabitants in 2007) established in 1949 to accommodate Palestinian refugees from Be'er Sheva and Beit Jubrin and environs. There are many incidents of stone-throwing. In the vicinity of the pillbox there are excellent agricultural areas, Farmers set up stalls adjacent to the plots close to the road. In recent months the civil administration  has set up dirt embankments thereby blocking access to the stalls, and making it impossible for the farmers to sell their vegetables. • Umm al-Kheir

A Palestinian village in the southern Hebron governorate, populated by five families. The Palestinian residents settled there decades ago, after Israel expelled them from the Arad desert and purchased the land from the residents of the Palestinian village of Yatta. The village suffers from the violence of nearby Carmel settlers, from water shortage and is subject to frequent demolition of buildings by the Civil Administration.

The nearby pillbox is unmanned. But the army and police are present occasionally, sometimes setting up a checkpoint and sometimes detaining residents from the big city. Often,  the Israeli policemen inspect vehicles and distribute driving reports to Palestinian vehicles. s
