Morning

At the end of June 2016 Muhammad Nasser Traira entered the home of Hillel Ariel in Kiryat Arba and stabbed her to death

The day after the attack in Kiryat Arba, Lara Traira, Muhammad’s sister gave an interview in which she praised her brother’s deed. She and another brother were promptly arrested on charges of sedition.

There is no point in enumerating the many praises Jews published after the murder of Palestinians – the burning of the Dawabsha family, the murder of Abu Khdeir, Elor Azaria – naturally, this is different because it was Jews who published these praises!

Lara Traira was released on bail.

Today Atty. Akram Samara requested another postponement because the prosecution had insisted on sending her to jail.

The hearing was postponed to 21.2.18.

Amal Saed was brought before Justice Lieut. Col. Sebastian Ossovsky for remand extension.

She is represented by Atty. Mahmoud Hassan.

Amal is charged with manufacturing an explosive charge. Two cans of alcohol were found in her house.

Atty. Hassan reports that the evidence contains a preliminary report with inconclusive findings indicating that it was not an explosive charge. The prosecution has yet to prove a connection to ISIS.

Decision: remand extension until the end of the investigation.

Arraignment hearing set for 29.1.18.

Amal’s husband and one of her daughters attended the hearing – this is their only chance to see her: they are barred from visiting her in prison.

The husband told the judge that their 8-year old son is sick and asked to allow Amal to talk to him on the phone. The judge acceded and in his decision recommended to allow Amal to phone her family.

Small consolation.

Later there was a long line of underage detaineesinfo-icon brought in for remand extension. There were no family members present. Perhaps due to the recent wave of arrests some parents did not even know that their sons were brought in for remand extension.

No need to repeat how sad that was.
