Judge: Lieut. Col. Menahem Lieberman

Police Investigator: Rabia Suatiri

Defense: Atty. Maamoun Heshin,   Atty. Judd Kadamani

Three cases of detaineesinfo-icon arrested on 18.6.16 and 19.6.16.

Assem Nadam Aaref Brahama  - ID 411445810

He is defended by both attorneys. Since 18.6.16 the detainee has been barred from meeting counsil.

We attended some of the remand extension hearings, where the attorneys tried hard to glean some information by posing questions to the investigator. The attorneys are barred from seeing their clients due to an injunction issued by the investigators. We are also barred from attending the encounter between the detainees and the judge.

From the attorneys’ questions we learned the following:

The investigators request a 15-day remand to complete the investigation.

The detainee is from Ramallah, born in 1992.

In reply to the defense’s question: the charge is activity undermining security in the region – a serious allegation.

The defense tries to minimize the charge; since the investigator refuses to supply any details, the judge adds: suspected of trading in combat materiel.

The allegations are recent: the detainee has not yet given a statement to the police.

Bakar Kafour Mustafa Muzhar – ID 854854569

Arrested on 19.6.

The investigator offers 12-day remand if there is no agreement and 8 if there is.

After deliberation, the attorneys decide on 8 days, provided the protocol includes a note: Until the next remand extension, the investigators have to check the alibi that the detainee claims he has – it is vital.

Remand extension for 8 days.

The third detainee is a minor, so we cannot divulge any details.

The judge ordered a hearing behind closed doors, whereupon we left the court.
