15:00  Za'tara/Tapuach junction - A line of 20 cars.

15:05  Entrance to Beita

An army and a police jeep opposite the entrance to the village, and about 15 soldiers.  An additional army jeep at the entrance to the village.  We entered Beita and were told that a helicopter flew overhead in the morning, and later, people disguised as Arabs entered the village in two old vehicles with Israeli license plates and caught two people in the area of the wholesale market.  They shot one in the leg although he tried to run away.  They weren’t able to tell us whether the ones arrested were from Huwwara or from Beita.

Heavy military presence in Huwwara.  Border Police soldiers and a jeep on the side of the road, and another group of soldiers farther on, without a vehicle.

15:35  A car coming from Nablus is detained, subjected to a long search.
An Israeli car is detained at the entrance to Nablus.

Other traffic flows freely.

The usual ceremony begins – the brothers selling chewing gum try to come over to us, the soldiers prevent them.  Unlike the previous times, the soldiers ignored our arrival or where we stood.  We didn’t get an answer to our question about why the car had been detained (a soldier answered me that I can ask whatever I want, but he doesn’t have to reply).

16:00 Generi junction, at the entrance to Deir Sharaf CP -

The police have stopped a Palestinian vehicle.

16:10  Deit sharaf

The former checkpoint was dismantled, and it looks like a new one is being constructed – concrete cubes have been placed at the second entrance to Shavei Shomron, as well as a guardpost.  The checkpoint isn’t manned.
