Etzion DCL, Thu 12.9.13, Afternoon

Etzion DCO
13.50 At the entrance hall we met people who complained that they have been waiting for more than 30 minutes and no one has yet called them inside. No soldier could be seen at the window. We called the Humanitarian Center that promised to take care of it. A few moments later a soldier appeared at the window and the waiting people were brought in.
Two people told us they had working permits, but their magnetic cards had expired and they came to renew them. The DCO refused to renew their cards because they arrived after 12 noon, and today, Thursday, they only handle magnetic cards till noon. Thursday is the assigned day and they don’t deal with this on other days. They were willing to come next Thursday, but it is a holiday and so is the Thursday after that, and on holidays the DCO is closed. If they wait till after the holidays their cards will expire, they won’t be allowed to enter Israel and will lose many days of work. We called officer R. who said she can’t talk because she is in a meeting and promised to get back to us once the meeting is over. She promised, and as usual kept her promise. She listened to these men’s problem and promised they will be able to renew the cards early next week.
