Afternoon

15:15 Tura-Shaked checkpoint

Only a few cross at this time. A wagon with young people on it, pulled by a donkey, crosses over. They say, "Who needs this checkpoint?"

A school inspector goes through and asks the same question: When would this hell end? What do they want from the children?

A family with children arrives from Jenin; they were let through after an inspection of their bags of Holidays gifts. Children were inspected as well.

A young fellow from Jenin spoke to us and said that he was a college graduate in accountancy, but since he's been unable to find a job he makes a living by burning coal.

6:30 Barta'a-Rihan checkpoint

Many hurry home after a day of fasting and work.

Once again there is a complaint of a Palestinian who long ago has served time in prison and to this day has to go through a Via Dolorosa, time and again, in order to obtain a work permit. He too asks :"How much longer?"
