Morning

The soldiers talk about warning and perform random checks.

06:25 Azzun Atma: There were about forty workers in the queue which isn't a queue and is especially dense. A few cars of contractors are waiting on the road. Surprisingly a deputy company commander of the military police is directing the CP. His behavior is efficient and correct but only two computer posts are active. He thinks that this is enough. The Kfir soldiers try to remove us from the CP area and allow us grudgingly to talk with the ecomenics who serve in-between the crew which is finishing its shift, and the other which only just now arrived in Israel (to be more accurate, in Palestine).

Near the CP, on the side of the village, a group of young people who don't stand in queue, assembles. According to the soldiers they intend going on a trip (?!)

Shomron crossing: There is no police at the exit from Israel.

Near Zeita there is no CP.

07:05 Za'tara/Tapuah:There are IDF soldiers everywhere. A vehicle is parked in the middle of the square, soldiers check vehicles which come from the direction of Ariel, before they arrive at the intersection. At the eastern hitch-hiking station a border-policeman checks the area of the station. At the CP itself there are two soldiers who check the cars from time to time. Their mere presence causes the cars to slow down, and a long queue is formed on the way up the road. The soldiers say that there are warnings, so they have to check.

Yitzhar/Burin: There is no military activity.

In the village of Beit Furiq, on one of the houses, there is an enormous wall painting of a young boy with a kalachnikov in his hand. To our regret we didn't find a Hebrew speaker around who could explain to us what the caption of the poster says. Because of the traffic we were unable to photograph it.

07:44 Beit Furik: The CP tower is not manned.

07:50 Awarta:  The yellow arm blocks the passage.

07:55 Huwwara:  The CP tower isn't manned. It seems the warnings haven't reached it.

Za'tara/Tapuah:On the road coming up from Huwwara there are no soldiers. On the road descending from Ariel the soldiers are still stopping vehicles.

Shomron crossing:  The traffic flows.
