Morning

The Occupation has its eyes shut wide.

06:10 – Barta'a Checkpoint

This is a checkpoint and everyone crossing here has a permit to cross, but they are not necessarily permitted to cross to where they want, or stay for the amount of time they need.  The security company which runs the checkpoint is more efficient than the army has been.  All different kinds of cars drop off dozens of men, hurrying to work, in the lower parking lot.  They disappear into the terminal and come out at the upper parking lot after a short time and get into other cars. It all looks great, but it is actually a deception. This is about scores of years of occupation and denial of the rights of Palestinians to move about their own land and travel where and when they want.  We are talking about control by the occupiers of various parts of the West Bank that is divided into areas A and B that are controlled by the Palestinians and area C - land that has been usurped by Israel.  A resident of Emricha reports that there are no soldiers at the Dotan Checkpoint.  The eyes of the occupation are tightly closed.

06:30 – A'anin Checkpoint

Crossing begins ten minutes late and is completed within 15 minutes.  A few people and three tractors cross.

07:10 – Shaked Checkpoint

Crossing began at 07:15 and the few people going to work have crossed slowly. This checkpoint is cluttered with all kinds of technological gadgets that the occupation has invented to make it more efficient.  Ironically, one day recently, when there was no electricity and the computers were not working, people crossed by showing their written permits and things went more quickly.
