14.15 Tura-Shaked checkpoint

Two children on bicycles pass in the direction of the Jordan valley. They are so sweet, with heart-warming smiles, that we both fall in love with them.

A few cars pass in the direction of the Jordan valley.  The place is deserted and we feel redundant (like this place).

15.00  Barta’a-Reichan checkpoint

There are no people and no cars; even the settler who runs the café has closed up.  After some time a few laborers and women arrive, and everyone passes through the checkpoint quickly.  A woman wrapped in black robes passes in the direction of the Seam-Line zone.  Interesting. Gradually the number of returning workers increases and some of them greet us in a friendly way.  We don’t feel threatened – on the contrary.

15.50  Inan Checkpoint

It is the time of the olive harvest, and there are many women laden with sacks full of olives.  The people are pleased by a successful harvest.  They are afraid that the time allocated for the olive harvest (during which the checkpoint is open every day) won’t be sufficient.  Even the soldiers at the checkpoint are moved by the pleasant atmosphere and chat in a friendly way.

16.40  The checkpoint is still open and we leave.
