BEIT IBA, Sunday 17 April 2005 AMObservers: Naomi K., Dafna A., Esti Tz., Orna P. (reporting)colour=red>There were only very few pedestrians going through. Checking was random. Buses went through almost without being checked. The taxi drivers complained that they find it hard to make a living [now that the buses have the monopoly on driving people into Nablus, through the checkpoint ]. The area was dusty, with broken rocks at the roadside. The stalls have been kept at a distance from the checkpoint. The taxi drivers said that they had not seen T. [the controversial commander of the company whose soldiers now staff the checkpoint] for some time. We were told he would come to the checkpoiont in the afternoon. 09:15 – Jit junctionThere were 35 cars waiting at an unannounced checkpoint.
