Wadi Nar (Container) Tues. 27.09.05 p.m.Observers: Rina H, Rahel W. (reporting)We drove to the Container via Al Ezariya. Our first attempt, past the Jahalin encampment led to concrete blocks closing off the road so we double backed and went by way of the new Kedar Road. There was a lot of traffic at the Container, but it moved very quickly. Also, large numbers of workers returning via the Old Kedar Road passed through quickly. The military police and border police manning the checkpoint generally waved everyone through with minimal check — if at all. When we arrived, a young woman who was the DCO representative came over to speak to us and remained with us for about 15 minutes asking all kinds of questions. (“Did your children serve in the army?, are you volunteers or do you get paid for this? etc.”) She was very pleasant and painted a rosy picture of how accommodating the DCO is in providing humanitarian aid to those in need. When we raised some issues about the hardships suffered by the local population in maintaining any kind of normal routines in their lives, and the terrible burden the wall creates for them, she was clearly very uncomfortable. The watch itself was uneventful.
