Abu Dis, ContainerThursday PM 15.12.05Observers: Dvora G., Dafna S. (reporting)14:00 – Abu DisThree armed soldiers + jeep guard the old gate. Barbed wire. Nobody stops. We are signed to continue driving. Hard feeling. At the old pishpesh near the monastery people get on and off. Nervous soldiers. In reply to our inquiry obout an old crippled man who has trouble passing though: it’s not our business, he can pass at a regulated checkpoint… through the monastery people pass unchecked.14:30 On the way to the Container, on the Aparheid road, a car with white license plates is stopped by military policemen and required to drive behind them. We are signed to move on, they are unwilling to speak to us.The ContainerVery quiet, few cars, all passing rapidly. One detained, his ID is torn… after check he is allowed to continue. Thin traffic of labourers. A man comes up to say his son is imprisoned in Nafha Prison; he has not been able to get a permit to visit for one and a half years. We refer him to the Civil Rights Association. He told us he had been to DCO Ezion, they were unwilling to talk to him. He himself has a magnetic card and permits. In Al Ezariya too there is a lot of traffic, but we saw no military presence.
