Beit Iba
Beit Iba, Monday, 12.12.05, PMObservers: Niva D., Michal A., Ziona S. and Yonah A. (reporting)16:15 – We arrived at Beit Iba. One of the taxi drivers received us: “Finally!”There was a long line of vehicles at the entrance, going in the direction of Nablus. At the pedestrian checkpoint there was lively traffic and the inspections were done quickly. The soldier there greeted us and asked how we were doing. When we asked him how he was, he answered “Rotten!”One young male detainee. He is a student at the university and goes through the checkpoint daily. He speaks English well. He refused to tell the soldier where he was from and said to him that it was all written on his ID. This answer annoyed the soldier and he sent him to the detention shed; however, he was released after a few minutes.17:15 – The checkpoint at the Shavei Shomron Junction is still thriving.17:20 – At the checkpoint at Jit Junction there are 5 cars. When we pass through, we have the following conversation with the Border Policeman: “Shalom, where are you from?” “From Machsom Watch.” “Do you know how to get there?” We point out to him our name tags. He smiles and tells us to move along.
