Shaked Rihan 19/6/06 Mon am Observers: Vivian, Nava (reporting)07.40 ShakedAn officer and a crew of soldiers are at the CP. Only a few people went through (the children are on vacation) – only those whose names appear on the list. A family with three small children, wanted to go through to get to the clinic in Tura, on the eastern side of the wall, but they are not on the list. The officer insists on sticking to his instructions and refuses to use common sense. The clinic is a short walk from the CP! We took them to the Rihan CP; they could only get through to Tura from there, via taxi, after a big detour and paying a suitable price.07.50 RihanAs is not usual, today many people went from the West Bank toward the seamzone. In the opposite direction only a few went through. The CP was full of garbage: plastic cups, and so on. The Palesinian fellow who cleans arrived and explained something about his payment to us. We could not really understand him.09.50: we returned through (East) Barta’a and we understood why so many people went through today. One of the people in the village was killed in a car accident and dozens of people were sitting in the family’s grieving hut. Many shops were shut.
