Qalandiya, Sunday, July 30th, amObservers: Ora A. and Ronny P.We arrived at Ar-Ram at 6.45 – no traffic. We took a bus to Qalandiya and heard a woman soldier screaming over the loudspeaker, ordering the car drivers to stop with precision where she wanted them to stop. There were not that many cars but her shrill voice was overpowering. When we approached the terminal we saw that the gates were closed and around 300 people waiting. We phoned the Jerusalem Border police command and spoke to one of the commanders and hopefully helped them realize that there are too many people waiting and within minutes the checkpoint commander opened the gate.We realized it would take us over an hour if we joined the line and so, after watching the slow procedure we left.We took a bus to Anata through Hizmeh refugee camp and changed to a bus going back to Ar-Ram. On the way there were a couple of checkpoints but the only official who entered the bus was a ticked control inspector. It seemed to us that there were less people around.Maybe the war also affects the general mood and people stay at home…
