Beit Iba, Tuesday. 29.08.06 PM,Observers: Dina P., Pithiah A. 14:30: Jit checkpoint, about 10 vehicles on either side. 15:00: Beit Iba checkpoint, 12 detainees info-icon , taxi drivers and students. The commander, Eli, insisted on keeping them in the detention cell until 18:30. We called 7 times to the Hotline. Miriam promised that she would send someone to check the situation, but no one arrived. They must insure that there is a water supply in this heat. People complained all the time of thirst, especially the detainees. There must be covering for the humanitarian line for women. They are broiling in the sun until their turn comes to be inspected. There are no female soldiers at this checkpoint for inspecting the women. There was one case where a woman claimed that she had her underwear in her bag and refused to give it to a male soldier for inspection. At 17:30 all the detainees were released, and also we left. 17:40: 20 vehicles waiting on either side at Jit junction.

The checkpoint is located on Route 60 near at the junction with Route 55, near the village of Jit. There was a checkpoint for vehicles passing between the north and south of the West Bank, which was abolished towards 2010. Since then, surprise checkpoints have been set up there from time to time with a police or Border Police vehicle, and vehicles and their passengers are inspected.

A perimeter checkpoint west of the city of Nablus. Operated from 2001 to 2009 as one of the four permanent checkpoints info-icon closing on Nablus: Beit Furik and Awarta to the east and Hawara to the south. A pedestrian-only checkpoint, where MachsomWatch volunteers were present daily for several hours in the morning and afternoon to document the thousands of Palestinians waiting for hours in long queues with no shelter in the heat or rain, to leave the district city for anywhere else in the West Bank.
From March 2009, as part of the easing of the Palestinian movement in the West Bank, it was abolished, without a trace, and without any adverse change in the security situation.
