15:15 – A'anin Checkpoint

We arrived at the checkpoint late.  Before we arrived our friend M., phoned and informed us that the soldiers had arrived and that the checkpoint had opened on time at 15:00.  By the time we arrived everyone had already crossed.   Five minutes later another four people arrived and crossed. 

15:30 – When the soldiers were about to lock the gates of the checkpoint two people came running up.  They let them cross and locked the checkpoint.   Two minutes later while the soldiers were still there another person arrived, but they would not let him cross.  We tried unsuccessfully to help.  Meanwhile the army vehicle stopped because my car was blocking the way.  They waited patiently for me to move the car.  They could have utilized that time to open the gate for the man who arrived late, but they refused, claiming that the reason was that "the lock is old and rusted."   The man was extremely angry and reluctantly agreed to ride with us to Barta'a checkpoint where he would have to take a taxi to Jenin and then another taxi back to A'anin.  Evidently the Palestinians' time and money do not matter.

15:50 – Reihan – Barta'a Checkpoint

This is the first time that we saw children sliding on the slides near the parking lot.  The broken swings have already been taken down.  The children slide straight down onto gravel – but this is all they have.

A young man told us that he had been released from prison and his probation period had also finished.  He recei

ved a work permit in Barta'a, but when he tried to get a work permit to enter Israel he was refused.  Despite the fact that his probation is over, he still has a police ban until 2030, creating a huge problem for him.

A lot of people arrive at the checkpoint with their rides, walk to the terminal through the sleeve, and cross through the turnstile on the side of the terminal.   Those who work i

n Israel continue immediately in the direction of the West Bank, while those who work in the seamline zone stop near the facility that checks their crossing permits.  There are two machines operating, and occasionally a line forms next to them.   

Among those who were crossing was Iad, the contractor who volunteers to keep order in the line in the morning.  He was surprised that we had not been there in the morning, probably because it was cold.

A few people are crossing through the terminal to the seamline zone.  One person was sitting on the bench where detainees wait, but he was evidently waiting for his family.

17:00 – Shaked – Tura Checkpoint

As usual the checkpoint is empty and there is no traffic.  We left before it got dark.

איחרנו להגיע. כבר בשתי דקות לשלוש דיווח לנו טלפונית מכרנו מ' שהחיילים פותחים בזמן (ב 15:00). עד שהגענו כל מי שהגיע למחסום עבר. כעבור כחמש דקות הגיעו עוד ארבעה אנשים ועברו.

15:30 כשהחיילים כבר התכוונו לנעול את שערי המחסום, הגיעו בריצה שני אנשים. נתנו להם לעבור ונעלו. כעבור דקותיים, כשהחיילים עדיין היו במקום, הגיע אדם נוסף. לא נתנו לו לעבור. ניסינו לעזור ולא הצלחנו. בינתיים הרכב הצבאי עצר, כי מכוניתי הפריעה לו לעבור. החיילים חיכו בסבלנות עד שהזזתי את המכונית. בזמן הזה יכלו לפתוח את השערים ולהעביר את האדם שאיחר, אך סירבו לעשות זאת. אחת הסיבות שנאמרו לנו: ''המנעול ישן וחלוד''. האיש כעס מאוד ובקושי הסכים לנסוע איתנו למחסום ברטעה, משם יצטרך לנסוע במונית שירות לג'נין ומשם במונית נוספת לעאנין. זמנו וכספו של פלסטיני לא נחשבים.

15:50 מחסום ברטעה-ריחן

פעם ראשונה שאנו רואות ילדים מחליקים במגלשות שליד מגרש החנייה. הנדנדות הרעועות כבר פורקו. מהמגלשות מחליקים ישר לחצץ. שמחת עניים.

אדם צעיר מספר ששוחרר מהכלא וגם תקופת המאסר על תנאי שלו כבר חלפה. הוא קיבל אישור עבודה בברטעה, אך כשניסה לקבל אישור עבודה בישראל סורב כי למרות שהתנאי כבר לא תקף עדיין יש לו מניעת משטרה עד 2030. צרה צרורה.

המון אנשים מגיעים למחסום בהסעות, יורדים לטרמינל בשרוול ועוברים בקרוסלה שבצד הטרמינל. העובדים בישראל ממשיכים מייד לכיוון הגדה והעובדים במרחב התפר מתעכבים ליד המתקן שבודק את היתרי המעבר. שני מתקנים פועלים ולעיתים נוצר לידם תור. בין העוברים גם עיאד הקבלן,שבבקרים דואג בהתנדבות להסדרת התור בבוקר. מתפלא שלא הגענו בבוקר ומתרץ זאת בכך שהיה קר.

מעטים עוברים דרך הטרמינל למרחב התפר. אחד נראה מעוכב על הספסל, אך מסתבר שהוא ממתין לבני משפחתו.

17:00 מחסום טורה-שקד

כרגיל שקט וכמעט ריק. אנחנו עוזבות לפני שמחשיך.
