Morning

07:55 - 09:00

(Due to personal reasons we could only do an extra short shift, but realized that it was better than nothing.)

07:55 -08:15 Shaked-Tura checkpoint

The checkpoint is almost deserted. Very few people and vehicles cross over from one side to another without any delays. A black dog fulls around with the security system and goes back and forth, avoiding  inspection.

08:25 - 09:00 Rihan-Barta'a

Here too traffic is scares in comparison with other Saturdays at this time of day, no body knows why. There are no people waiting by the gatesinfo-icon on both sides of the terminal and the few that do show up, go through in no time.

We were approached by two people requesting our help: One claims that he is detained by the Shaba"k, yet he was allowed though to day, and the second is denied renewal of his agriculture work permit to cultivate is own land (part of which is right at the checkpoint area) and he was unable to go through. We took their name to try and take care of the matter.

Cars were inspected at a rate of about 18 minutes for 4 cars. and at this time there are only a few.

Upon arriving at the checkpoint we can see from a distance the conspicuous huge metal Chanukka candelabra, ready for the Jewish holyday. It seems that there is no end to absurdity and surrealism at this checkpoint, where now the Geranium flowers are in full blossom as well as all new plants that grow nicely in the cold grey climate with the blowing winds.

There is also a new addition - a permanent garbage can.
