Morning

7:20 – 7:40 Tura Shaked Checkpoint

Many laborers have already crossed from the Palestinian side into the seam zone and are now waiting for their rides to work. No one is waiting to get through the carousel on the Palestinian side. Both pedestrians and cars are passing through the checkpoint without delay.

7:50 – 8:30 Barta'a Riehan Checkpoint

Also at this checkpoint we observe many laborers already waiting along the side of the road for their rides to work. We’re surprised to see what a great number of people there are. We guess they are construction workers headed for the Harish settlement?

People are exiting the terminal at a slow pace. One man tells us that there are many people still inside and that everything is going slowly because there are only two booths open. We can’t see exactly what the situation inside is because, as usual, one side of the door is shut. We timed the passage of one individual at about 15 minutes, which is quite a long time.

The only water cooler, at the entrance to the sleeveinfo-icon, isn’t working.

When we departed, most of the laborers we’d seen waiting by the side of the road were gone.
