Checkpoints and towns in the Nablus area: besieged and also long long queues
Sara Checkpoint, though which one drives to Nablus, is closed.
Two soldiers’ tents are seen next to it.
Azun - entrances to the town are closed for quite a long time now, including the entrance between Nabi Elias and Izbat Tabeeb.
Huwarra - everything looks forlorn. Only a few of the shops are open. The main road is deserted. Hardly any people are to be seen. Since the bypass road was opened, Israeli vehicles hardly pass through Huwarra. The checkpoint is closed, naturally. The road leading to it has works ongoing.
Awarta Checkpoint is open. A long line of vehicles stretches into Awarta village, because of the inspections at the checkpoint.
Beit Furik Checkpoint - open. Inspections take place, and there is a long waiting line from the direction of Nablus.
Beit Dajan - the entrance gate to the village from Eilon More colony is still closed.
Burin - we drove there to see the remains of the fires of a few days ago. They were right behind the school, in front of the soldiers standing at the nearby army post. Everything is charred, black! Including charged olive trees.
We visited our friend Doha. She said that a group of soldiers and colonists walk around the village every day, while another group walks inside Madama village.
People are desperate. No livelihood. Her husband, a professional teacher, has only been receiving half his salary since the war began. The PA has no money to pay its employees because Israel has not been passing it the money it owes them. We drove back in a feeling of total desperation. The situation is dire.
