Etzion DCO: two small miracles in one day

Two happenings…will there be a third? A glimmer of light . No there was not.

First of all I forgot to report last week that a man from Husan told us that the soldiers enter the village both day and night. They enter the houses on the pretext of searching for something and create general havoc. Also destruction of houses which have been illegally built….as they cannot get permits to build legally.

We were amazed when we arrived to find the parking lot full   and the hall filled with people with various problems….and suddenly, as could only happen in the middle east, the Palestinians are now getting their magnetic cards here again and not at Tarkumia. People who needed to speak to the police. Almost normal as before the war.  Some people had permits to work in Israel but it seems as if they were bought on the blackmarket and not given legally.

A man who works in Tel Aviv where he has a flat went into a shop to buy groceries. A  man came in and  said he was not allowed there. He accused  him of trying to flirt with the cashier. Our man said he had only been in the shop once or twice  before as he usually buys at a different place. The man told him to get out of the shop……and being a Palestinian he did not argue….This happened before the war. The man followed him out and said that he had to remain where he was!!!! As  the man had a gun, he did not argue and then the police came but we are not sure who summoned them. They told him he could go and did nothing to his assailant. But he said to the policeman that the man would follow him.The story is so unbelievable that if we did not see what is happening  every day in the occupied territories  we would not believe it.  at least the police took him to a central area where he got onto a bus and out of the reach of the Ben Gvir follower. At least that.

On our way home the second event which seemed to herald the coming of the Messiah. As we turned off to go to Gilo, we saw a policeman and woman stopping a Palestinian car and our first thought was of harassment. Then we saw them bringing an elderly blind man to the car and they asked the driver to take the man to where he had to go.  We called them and told them they had made our day. The policeman said, “We are all human beings.” Sad that we surprised to hear such word but the words brightened our day.
