17:00 – There are 16 vehicles at the entrance to Qalqiliya. Close to the break of the fast, people are very nervous, pushing each other and sounding the car horn a lot. We approach the checkpoint and see that the vehicles pass quickly without being checked. But then, a vehicle with Israeli licence plates arrives and holds up the line. The inspection is carried out by Border Police soldiers while other soldiers are standing guard. We ask a driver of an Israeli vehicle whether he will be allowed to enter Qalqiliya, when all the signs at the entrance say that entry of Israeli vehicles is prohibited. He answers that he is trying, hoping to succeed. Another says that his wife and children are there. We can see that each car such as these holds up the line, but after some argument it is allowed to enter.
