Our continuous presence at the checkpoints since the year 2001, enables us to recognize and be familiar with countless difficult and lasting problems, which the occupation causes the Palestinian citizens in the occupied territories. On our own initiative we send letters of complaint about inhuman behaviour, and lack of justice both as a protest and with the aim of stopping them. These letters are mostly sent to the Civil Administration and to senior army officers, but also to members of parliament and to the media. It should be noted, however, that in MachsomWatch, which is a “flat” organization with no hierarchy, there is no consensus about whether it is justified to lobby army authorities with the aim of “softening” the occupation.
