Across the Jordan Valley and South Hebron Hills, Palestinian shepherd communities are being pushed off land they've lived on for generations by violent settlers. MachsomWatch volunteers show up, week after week, as a visible, documenting presence. We're not soldiers, not lawyers, not the police. We are women who show up—in solidarity with beleaguered families—to challenge intimidation, bear witness, and help ensure that settler violence is documented.
We don't promise to stop the settlers' violence.
We do promise that we won’t stop showing up.
In the Jordan Valley and South Hebron Hills, remote from Israel's centers of power, settler violence has grown increasingly brazen. Our volunteers have learned, through witnessing these events, that our presence can affect what happens during and after an attack on a Palestinian home, family, or village. This is not a promise that we can prevent every attack. It is a pattern our volunteers have witnessed repeatedly, shift after shift, village after village.
That is what this campaign funds: the ability to keep showing up.
Protective presence is a humane response to violent settler behavior.
Every shift is a small refusal to look away.
Women and children tell us they feel safer when we stand alongside them.
Why our presence still matters, even when it doesn't stop an attack.
We do not claim that when our volunteers arrive, attacking settlers will simply leave. We do not claim that our presence has ended years of violence. Some communities we visit regularly have already shrunk dramatically, as families have been forced to leave due to relentless harassment and intimidation. But something else happens.
The people in these communities, especially their women and children, tell us that they feel less alone, less afraid, and safer simply because concerned Israelis have come to stand alongside them. And most importantly, we are independent witnesses.
We are there when there is no camera crew, no journalist, and often no one else to document what is happening. We see. We record. We bear witness. And we make it harder for what happens to disappear without a trace.

- A record that doesn't vanish when we leave.
- That's often the difference between a community holding on and a community giving up.
