Etzion DCO - Between the Devil and the Blue Sea
Besides the parking area which was completely full and more so, this was the picture that we saw when we walked into the hall. At one stage all the women were called in together. A rare moment of consideration. Another one remembered Yael Shalem. We reckon that there were about 60 people waiting and that is besides the people in the offices.
A Christian man says that they are between the devil and the deep blue sea. To the Israelis they are terrorists and to the Palestinians they are traitors and a fifth column. He felt that the treatment they get is the same as the Moslems.
One Israeli man from Kfar Kasse had got involved in some affair in Bethlehem and had had his car confiscated and had sat in the Palestinian jail for a few days. He has come here now to try to get the car back and has been given a name to contact.
Once again we are asked about Sylvia. She is not forgotten. Shows how many years we have been coming here and the situation has only worsened.
One man, an Israeli, opened the door of the toilet and closed it in disgust. He asked if we mentioned this in the report and we told him we have been doing so literally for years.
We were told that a man had had a permit to work for the church and this had been rescinded. The reason being that his magnetic was valid for less the six months. Anything to make life more difficult.
By the way the women who had been called in as a group had been in for nearly an hour when we left and only one of them had come out.
