What happens in the women's clubs in the West Bank?
09:30 The Rosh Ha'Ayin train station.
10:00 The club at Qira. As the activity at Haris has stopped (temporarily, it is hoped) Neomi joined the activity at Qira.
The club is teeming with life, beautifully equipped. In addition to a room for study, there is also a gym with equipment that wouldn't shame any gym in Israel. Our activity is in two groups: Harriet teaches English and Neomi gives a first lesson in Hebrew. The gym lesson is given by a local instructor. Among the women there is a great willingness to continue learning with us. The atmosphere is very pleasant and friendly.
11:50 After about two hours of teaching we continue in the direction of the village of A-Dik. We pass Haris and Kif'l Hareth. The road is open, there are few cars driving on it. On the other side of road no. 5, between the industrial area of Ariel and Barkan, there are two police jeeps parked, and policemen check the cars driving in the direction of the inner Bank. We pass Baruhin and from there to the village of A-Dik. All along the road no military presence can be seen.
12:10The club at Kafr A-Dik. There are a few women in it. The director, Hanaan arrives later. She presents to us beautiful specimens of handicraft which were made within the framework of the sewing machines project. However – work is stopped now, as there is no instructor. Eyes are turned towards our "village women" to volunteer and continue the activity.
In the course of the conversation a request is passed to us from one of the women to help a 35 year old security service prevented person, who was never before accused of any sabotage act, to get a work permit. Another example of a man whose life and that of his family are destroyed just because of the occupation regime's desire to hurt. The request, together with the necessary details will be passed on to Silvia. Let's hope she succeeds.
13:30 Back to Rosh Ha'Ayin.

Kufr a-Dik This is a Palestinian village in the Salfit district of the West Bank, located 8 kilometers east of the Green Line. The village population numbers 4,494 (as of 2007). 14.5% of the village were included in Area B (supposedly under Palestinian civil control) and 86% categorized as Area C – meaning both civil and military Israeli control, which severely affects the state of the village and its inhabitants. Over the years Israel has robbed 1,448 dunams from the village’s farmlands for the sake of building the settler-colonies of Penuel, Alei Zahav, Yoezer, Har Alei Zahav, and the industrial zone next to Penuel. Lands were also sequestered for the paving of Road 446 whose length stretches over 4 kilometers and includes a buffer zone 75-meters wide on both its sides. Following the paving of the road, the village has suffered not only landgrab but home demolitions and the destruction of water wells as well. Rates of unemployment in both the private and the public sectors reach 60%. In the years 2010-2013 creative activity was held by members of MachsomWatch and women of the village.
